The basement of Rico Wade’s mother’s house was a studio known as the Dungeon. Wade’s production team, Organized Noize, produced the debut albums of OutKast and Goodie Mob from start to finish. Wade’s cousin, who would become Future, was part of the crew under the name Meathead until a bandmate started calling him The Future. His first songwriting credit came on Ludacris’s “Blueberry Yum Yum”, also built on an Organized Noize beat.

On “Relationship”, Future sings the hook.

Lil Nas X has named Young Thug as a pioneer of country trap. YoungKio, the producer behind the “Old Town Road” beat, never meant it as a country track. Half a year before “Old Town Road”, in May 2018, Lil Tracy had brought in Lil Uzi Vert for a remix of his own “Like a Farmer” and set off a wave of country rap. Blanco Brown grew up in Atlanta on OutKast and Johnny Cash, and his “The Git Up” went to No. 1 on the country chart.
