クイーンズ生まれのリル・テッカは、9歳のころ、Xbox で友だちと遊びながらマイクでラップを始め、けなし合う曲を作って、そのうち2曲を SoundCloud に上げた。2019年、テッカは、ネットで知り合ったラッパーの SoFaygo に、ビートを一つ作って渡している。
Lil Tecca, born in Queens, started rapping into his mic at nine while playing Xbox with friends; they traded diss tracks, and he put two of them up on SoundCloud. In 2019 Tecca made a beat for SoFaygo, a rapper he had met online.

ジュース・ワールドの「Lucid Dreams」は、ニック・ミラがネットで送ったビートの曲で、まず SoundCloud に上がった。ミラはタズ・テイラーと、ネットでビートを売る集まり、インターネット・マネーを作る。二人が手がけた XXX テンタシオンとトリッピー・レッドの「Fuck Love」は、2019年、SoundCloud でいちばん再生された曲になった。同じ年、リル・テッカはその集まりのスタジオで「Ransom」を録った。
Juice WRLD’s “Lucid Dreams” was made on a beat Nick Mira sent him online, and it went up on SoundCloud first. Mira and Taz Taylor started Internet Money, a collective built around selling beats online. “Fuck Love”, XXXTentacion’s song with Trippie Redd, was also their beat, and in 2019 it became the most-streamed song in SoundCloud’s history. That same year, Lil Tecca recorded “Ransom” at the collective’s studio.

SoFaygo の「Knock Knock」は、ネットで知り合ったリル・テッカが作ったピアノのビートで、2019年、パソコンの GarageBand で50分ほどで録った曲だ。1年以上たって TikTok で広まり、2021年の春にはテッカの「Show Me Up」も TikTok で聴かれた。プラグのビートに R&B の甘い歌を乗せるプラグンB は、二人の曲や、オータム! の「Nina!」のような TikTok のヒットで広まった。
SoFaygo’s “Knock Knock” rides a piano beat by Lil Tecca, whom he had met online, and he recorded it in GarageBand on his computer in about 50 minutes in 2019. More than a year later it took off on TikTok, and in the spring of 2021 Tecca’s “Show Me Up” caught on there as well. PluggnB, sweet R&B singing over plugg beats, spread through TikTok hits like theirs and Autumn!’s “Nina!”.

2020年の「Off the Map」で、SoFaygo はレイジに近い音をもう鳴らしていた。翌年、トラヴィス・スコットのカクタス・ジャックと契約し、トリッピー・レッドの「MP5」に呼ばれる。シンセの厚いレイジのビートで、題はゲーム『コール オブ デューティ』に出てくる銃の名前から取った。2022年の最初のアルバムでは、プレイボーイ・カーティのレーベル、オピウムのケン・カーソンと組んだ「Hell Yeah」が先行シングルになった。
On “Off the Map” in 2020, SoFaygo was already making something close to rage. The next year he signed with Travis Scott’s label, Cactus Jack, and Trippie Redd brought him onto “MP5”, a synth-heavy rage beat named after a gun in the Call of Duty games. On his first album in 2022, the lead single was “Hell Yeah” with Ken Carson of Playboi Carti’s label, Opium.
